Competition Rules

The League Management Board are concerned that match officials are failing to enforce competition rules relating to the management of technical areas.

Please be aware of league directives, which can be found in full on page 39 of the NCEL handbook 2004 – 2005.

Summary of rules relating to technical areas/trainers boxes.

* A MAXIMUM of 6 persons to be allowed in the technical area/trainers box.

* All occupants MUST remain within the confines of the technical area (unless duties determine otherwise i.e. nominated substitute warming up)

* If a manager/coach is a nominated substitute he MUST NOT coach whilst warming up outside the technical area.

* Only one person is permitted to convey tactical instructions, and s/he must remain in the technical area.

* All occupants of the trainers box must AT ALL TIMES, behave in a responsible manner. They will be allowed to sit or stand adjacent to the box (but within the technical area) provided that good behaviour is maintained at all times.

The rules relating to technical areas/trainers boxes are under review.

REMINDER OF LAW 12

The use of unacceptable language:

There has been an improvement with regards to this matter, HOWEVER there is still a major cause for concern.

The main thing to remember is to BE SEEN TO BE DOING SOMETHING ; too many officials are simply ignoring this matter.

The NCEL will support officials who fulfil their duties in terms of applying LAW 12.
